Clear the Recent Documents list in Windows 7

Method 1
 

Recent Items listed in the start menu are stored in:
%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent
 

Recent items listed in jump lists are stored in:
%appdata%\microsoft\windows\recent\automaticdestinations

you can press Win+R and paste “%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent” and press OK will open the folder. You can select all file and press delete for manual process.

And again press Win+R and paste “%appdata%\microsoft\windows\recent\automaticdestinations “ and press OK will open the folder. You can select all file and press delete for manual process.

Or you can simply open command Prompt and paste this “del %appdata%\microsoft\windows\recent\automaticdestinations\* “ command and press enter, then press “Y” and press enter again will clear data automatically.

Method 2 (Clear Recent history on exit)

1. Go to Start menu, and type gpedit.msc in the search line and press Enter.
2. If prompted by UAC, click on Continue.
3. Now go to this folder : User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar.
4. Once you got to this folder, you will find ‘Clear history of recently opened documents on exit’ in the right pane, just double click on it.

Method 3
 

NOTE: This option will also clear the Recent items in Jump Lists as well, and not just in the Start Menu.

1. Right click on the Start button, and click on Properties.
2. Uncheck the Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar box, and click on Apply.
3. If you would like to turn recent items back on, then check the Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar box.

telnet is not recognized as an internal or external command

One day I was checking if the port is open or not using telnet command, it shown me below message.
"telnet is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file"
Solution for Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008 (NOT R2):
Select Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows Features on or off > "Select Telnet Client" > OK

Solution for Windows Server 2008 (R2):
Select Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager > Features >Add Features > Locate and select "Telnet Client" > Next > Install > Close

Go to "Control Panel > Programs and Features" and then you will find something like "Turn Windows features" or "Advanced" ....You should find the option "telnet client" and select the option and click OK.

When you start Outlook 2007, you receive the following error:

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window.

This problem can occur when file that maintains the Navigation Pane settings becomes corrupted. This file is called profilename.xml, where profilename is the name of your Outlook profile. This file is stored in the following folder:

Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Windows Vista, Windows 7

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook

A good indication this file is corrupted is when the file size is 0 KB.

To resolve this problem, use the following steps.

On the Start menu click Run.

In the Run dialog box, type the following command:

Outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Note: There is a space between "Outlook.exe" and "/resetnavpane"

Click OK.

Note If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may not see Run on the Start menu. In this situation, use the following steps to locate the Run option.

On the Start menu click All Programs.

Click Accessories.

Click Run.
